Ho ho ho! How’s it going? December weight gain is inevitable, isn’t it? I know it’d hit me pretty hard, but I’m just focused on enjoying the holidays and getting all the other things done I otherwise can’t at university, now that I’m back home, for example, taking the time to write in my planner more.
It’s Christmas eve and I’ve been back home for 6 days now, unpacking all the new things in our new house a few blocks down from our old one. We gave decorated our Christmas tree and I’ve wrapped a few presents of my own and placed the under the Christmas tree.
My siblings and I are super excited for Santa to come tonight!
Apparently an Italian who’s been living here for 29 years designed the kitchen! It’s definitely an upgrade from our last kitchen which was white and half the size.
On the 16th of December, I did something unusual.
I hopped on a bus to another city and traveled to visit a friend. She couldn’t come down to visit me this week, and so I decided to go visit her way up in Oshawa.
Getting on the bus, I felt a thrill. It felt so official. I don’t take the coach often, only regular public transit and it hit me that a lot of the times I get worried or negative about deciding to do an action until I actually do it; and thus why at times in grade 12, I shied away from certain social events because of a long “commute” when really, i needed to just get up and just do it. I have to do what feels right; i have to be proactive and not passive.
I had the most AMAZING time with this girl. We played video games, we laughed, we talked, we both like background music when we’re focusing on one task, we both love walks, we cooked, we shared secrets, she didn’t judge me based on my diet and my habitual practices, I felt comfortable being authentic with her.
And she has the most amazing family who are so loving; apparently they eat organic, her dad eats keto and her mom is training for a 15k! They are very kind people who are open minded and light hearted. I can see why they fell in love.
I had a great time with her and I was sad to leave on friday morning. But we qill see each other again, and I honestly can’t wait to watch some more Americas next top model, make a better cheesecake (the one I made was too eggy), pm at some video games and read some CreepyPastas.
And now for the would you rather…
have to loudly sing the chorus of Jingle Bells every time you walk into a room for a week or have to wear a Santa suit to school every day for a week
I’d rather sing! I actually love singing, so it doesn’t bother me. I’m actually in school for theatre, and I spent 2 years of my high school years in an arts school for musical theatre. It’s my dream to be on Broadway. Maybe I’ll be as good as Leah Michele one day!
make presents for your family instead of buying them or make ornaments for your Christmas tree instead of buying them
I’d rather make presents for my family! Honestly, they usually don’t have anything they like anyway–anytime I ask my dad what he wants for Christmas, he says something along the lines of, “for you to get all A+’s” or “for you to be a doctor and earn lots of money and honour our family.” Now, I would buy presents for my friends, of course.
not celebrate Christmas this year or not celebrate your birthday this year
I’d rather not celebrate my birthday! My birthday is just one celebration for one person. But Christmas is so much more of a community thing, and it’s a spirit that everyone feels.
have Frosty the Snowman for a friend or Rudolf the Red-Nosed Reindeer for a friend
Oh gosh this is a hard one. Frosty and I would have the most epic snowball fights, and I love cold temperatures so I could hug him all the time to feel cold (I have an overheating problem), but I could fly with Rudolf, so I’d say I’d rather befriend Rudolf!
have mistletoe hanging in your bedroom doorway or have a large decorated Christmas tree in your bedroom doorway
I’d rather have a mistletoe. If it’s tiny enough, nobody will see it, haha. Or…I just might invite a lot of guys I like over and we’d have to innocently follow the rules of Christmas and kiss.
have Christmas tree tinsel for hair or have fingernails that light up like Christmas lights
Finger nails! It’d suck but at the same time, I think it’d be totally rad!
be at home on Christmas and get lots of presents or go to Disneyland for Christmas but not get any presents
What kind of presents are we talking? Some laptops, a playstation, a $1000 gift card to amazon? Or if we’re just talking the average presents, then I’d rather go to Disneyland. I’ve always wanted to visit that place! I’ve never been to the states and I really love amusement parks. I come from a very traditional Chinese family–
and what the frig is a holiday?! and we don’t go out much.
eat your cereal with eggnog instead of milk or eat a candy cane sandwich
Neither, since I try to keep to as keto-paleo as possible. But maybe cereal with eggnog.
live in a giant gingerbread house or ride on the Polar Express
RIDE THE POLAR EXPRESS.
Be allowed to only eat fruitcake for two days or Be allowed to only eat candy canes for two days
Candy canes. I love mint and I can’t stand fruitcake.
write a five paragraph essay about the meaning of Christmas or solve a page of Christmas-themed math problems
omg are you for real
as a 5 paragraph
have a nose that glows red like Rudolf’s or have pointy ears like an elf
Pointy ears. I think Galadriel is pretty rad and I can rock the style like her.
visit the north pole or visit Bethlehem
North Pole. I’m gonna see Santa if I go to the North pole but I ain’t gonna see baby Jesus if I go to Bethlehem.
be given $100 for Christmas to buy things for yourself or be given $1000 before Christmas to use to buy gifts for other people
$1000 before Christmas so I can buy really rad gifts!
get many small presents for Christmas or get one big present for Christmas
Maybe one big present. Go hard or go home, you know?
have a job wrapping presents at the mall or have a job taking pictures of children sitting on Santa’s lap at the mall
I’d rather wrap presents.
be one of Santa’s elves or be one of Santa’s reindeer
see the Nut Cracker or dance in the Nut Cracker
I’d love to dance in the Nut Cracker. I’ve always wanted to dance.
Pick one of the questions above and answer it!
How do you stay healthy during the holidays? Have you cut back on your workouts? Do you have snow?
